First time Blogging!

Welcome to my blog! I can’t wait to share many of my ideas for food and fun with you. It all started years ago when I was “playing hippy” and began cooking a honey wheat bread in flowerpots. Well, actually, I started making bread in clay pots that a friend of mine made. Later when I left Texas to come back to Ga., I started to cook my bread in flowerpots. Everyone loved the bread and wanted me to make sandwiches. So I decided I would come up with unusual fillings and make sandwiches and open a restaurant. Of course at 22 and a hippy, I had dreams but no money. I went to visit my mom one day and told her I wanted to open a restaurant. A couple of weeks later, she came to me and handed me an envelope with $10,000 and said she had put a second mortgage on her home and gave me the money and said, OK, Sally here is your chance. Well, now a days, with $10,000 you could never open a restaurant, but back in the 70’s, we did it! A friend of mine helped me tear down an old barn and we covered the front of a closed Steak and Egg (like a Waffle House) with the Barn wood and took all my grandmother’s silverware and pictures from my house and got the rent for $500 a month and bought cheap furniture and equipment and opened in 2 months. I was going to name it Sandwich Saloon, but when I got to Dekalb County, they said I could not use any name that had the connotation of alcohol in it so I had 15 min. to come up with a name…….and Good ol’ Days was born. Got to get some rest, more later….thanks for stopping by.
